The Neonatal Research Priority Setting Partnership needs your help
The Neonatal Society, the British Association for Perinatal Medicine (BAPM), the Neonatal Nurses Association (NNA) and The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) have formed a new partnership to identify and prioritise research questions that can be tested in randomised trials in UK neonatal care. The Neonatal Research Priority Setting Partnership seeks to gather research questions from the neonatal community; everyone involved in neonatal care is encouraged to take part to ensure that key research uncertainties are identified. This includes doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, parents, former patients and researchers. They would love to hear from you if you have a question that you think would benefit from further research to improve care or reduce unwanted variations in practice.
The Neonatal Priority Setting Partnership is a group of healthcare professionals and parent representatives that have come together to oversee the process to identify and prioritise research by working in four phases:
- Phase 1: inviting submissions of research questions using a question building tool.
- Phase 2: reviewing the submitted questions and developing a final list (removing any duplicates, questions that have already been answered, and those out of scope)
- Phase 3: asking the perinatal community to prioritise questions in order of importance by completing surveys
- Phase 4: disseminating the results to stakeholders including research organisations such as the National Institute for Health Research.
Submissions are open until 28 February 2022. There is more information about the project on the BAPM website including a full protocol and supporting resources on how to submit a question.
